Yes I bring my camera to the grocery store in case of sunset on the way home...

I was always impressed with silhouettes because they were stunning in a world of film photography where choices where limited. These first three are straight from the camera but I could have produced them from manipulation myself in this digital age. They to me need some editing for a little more drama...and the silo looks to be blowing smoke!

This portrait view image has the x of crossing planes in the upper left corner which may be that extra interest that the image needs. Feedback welcome...

Since I take many, many pictures of this farm...being one of the two closest on a short jog by car at sunset...I look for different perspectives...it seems close-up brings even more simple drama.

The next is edited and editing is very exciting to me..it represents the filters that were too expensive for me when I first had my film SLR camera in my 20's. I used colored plastics to make monotone images...and then there was the waiting for the print to see if the idea worked.

Return to Blogger...one year later...

Seems exciting to revisit this Blog and find that I wrote some starting points from a year ago.

Looking to build a website to display portfolio but I am a little familiar with this format and hope to

link it all together!

I am scattered on FB and a smattering on IG with a goal to increase viewing across platforms to get

more mileage of the events, rallies and other people's art that I promote...along with my own projects.

You will find on my Celia Schulz-Photography page that I covered the monthly BONK! Performance

Series in Racine, WI headed by Nick Demske extraordinaire and if I figure out how to link to his

Kingdom that will be a plus for the future.

I am a member of LULAC League of Latin American Citizens...and more on that and again a link to

that group and what we promote in the near future.

Bio...? Selfie Part 1

So I was asked for a bio for BONK! Revelation...

I always took pictures promoting others talents!

Well my children's talents, but it branched out to others, being on the yearbook committee

at Fine Arts. I got to know the talents school wide...and understandably something that is necessary if you are in competition such as music.

...same for sports.  I was more of a Music Mom instead of a Soccer Mom...

There were years of being a Softball Mom (NOT Baseball!) as I was corrected repeatedly!!!

...and when my older daughter actually was on Varsity Golf she would not let me come watch!

It was HER thing with friends SHE picked...she didn't need Hover Mom.

My younger one was a fidget-bucket. We tried violin but she wanted to be a social butterfly.

The school I picked was probably not the best match but she had already fallen in love with her 1st

grade teacher and the musical the teachers collaborated on was right up our alley.

I lost my place after that...

My older one preferred to be on her own and the younger one was in a sea of academically charged students and parents where we were struggling to get reading scores up to snuff.

....and they rejected my yearbook committee volunteer offer...another mom had cemented her claim and declined to share.

...to be continued!

All I want is time... (my old friend)

Time to rehash old thoughts...

Time to revalate in why I do what I do with my time...

I realized a couple weeks ago.

All that I do is an offshoot of where we left off...

(my old friend)

being a water keeper...

taking more interest in special interest groups...

art groups, artists including poets, taking pictures of artists.

volunteering for organizations where my exposure is increased

in the circles that seem they are likely to intersect...

with yours...and implode again.

(my old friend)

Even the business of daily life is what I need to keep from

Falling back to thinking that I should care to know...

Anymore...

(my old friend)

And even then...my whirlwind and yours may collide

and implode again.  It's redundant. but I like that line.

Book Progress

Here is where I am today...trying to figure out how to retire but my life so far has been based on being a workaholic...how does a workaholic retire?

Thirty years hospital nursing...the past ten years in classroom private duty nursing. Before those forty years was fast food, waitress and a little car hop experience, garden business help and vegetable stand  attendant...also coat checking and babysitting. Two years as a girl Friday and bookkeeper and then nurses aid at a nursing home that lead into nursing career. Included in the forty years was many times a second job...Visiting nurse and a variety of nursing home positions even supervision.

How to retire? Not sure.

The goal was going to be less hours for book progress but so far life has gotten in the way!

Beginning History

I was thinking that after our meet up group made a point of having us introduce ourselves that it is what I could do here to give a sloppy summary of an intro to those who may follow me or become friends in the future that can find some way to connect to myself or my background.

Keep in mind that like other creatives I am primarily right brained and never thinking much about the current events unless it is about arts.

So here we go...I can explain my beginnings of writing ...oops! Wrong subject already. I want to document my art connections to be on task to consider what my inspirations were and what they may be in the future.

My first memory of art was taking an art class as Wustum Museum in Racine...I didn't understand why the easel was almost upright...the sponge paint ran down the page! I was in elementary parochial school nearby...I knew I might have a little talent because the teacher put my coloring on the wall in the classroom with two others. The three of us later that year had entries in the Wustum Scholastic exhibit.

I was painfully shy and my heart raced when the nuns called on me for answers. I took piano from my second grade teacher in the nuns house and remembered I froze during the piano recital. Probably stick to art...

My favorite class was Art in Junior High. I won a place in a Christmas card contest with a linoleum print. I was presented with $50 and a box of cards with my design and the other winners. I was pretty happy until I went to school to empty my art drawer for the semester and it was empty. The teacher said she told us she would toss what was left after a certain date and out it went! She was a sub...probably not even an art teacher...a true art teacher would not have tossed away someone's art.

After a wild year in Arizona where our family uprooted to with the dreams of my dad playing golf year round...we returned 'home' to better wages and extended family.
I could still feel the warmth of the southwest and is easy to recall even now...those were the tie-dye years....and then macreme!

Coffee & Zines Part 2

Took my forever friend for lunch on the recommendation of a carpeted restaurant in town..

He was delighted with his fried chicken and fries

...and I with Pecan Pancakes

We decided to drive by the lake to take in the aqua blue colors
and found the decorated tree we heard about still decorated!

I forgot to add the view from Marina Shore...just a cell pic but
maybe a theme to explore another time...

Then my passenger requested a drive to locate the origin of a large farm fire he heard about overnight.

Probably my favorite barn to watch how the sun changed the angles of the shadows...and how it looked with the cabbage just before harvest.
